Our Idea
The foundation of our project is the protection of animals – and at the same time, the support of their owners, because we believe that animals and people need each other. No sick or injured animal should go without medical care simply because of a lack of financial resources or bureaucratic hurdles.
Many pet owners face financial hardship when their animals require medication, surgery, or special food. Often, even basic daily care presents a significant challenge. This is where we want to help.
We offer:
- Castration projects at home and abroad – to curb uncontrolled breeding and improve animal welfare.
- Animal hospice – loving care and support for animals in their final phase of life (unfortunately only possible to a limited extent due to space limitations, as the care is very intensive).
- Golden Dogs for Golden Girls (& Golden Boys) – Rehoming animals to elderly people who long for companionship. Since we assume responsibility for these animals in the event of hospitalization or the death of the owners, this service is also limited in capacity.
An unspayed female dog gives birth to between 5 and 15 puppies twice a year. By spaying just one young female dog, an average of 50 to 100 offspring can be prevented. The so-called “breeding dogs” are particularly important – animals whose owners cannot afford spaying, or stray dogs that are fed and therefore able to raise all their offspring. It is not always easy to reach these animals. In addition to spaying and neutering programs in Slovakia, a project is currently planned in Sicily, which will also include the dogs of shepherds (mostly Maremannos).
